Do's and Don'ts
DO....
- Bring bungee cords and a first aid kit.
- Know that the tar on the decks will leave the bottom of your feet
black for a while after you get back
- Restrain thyself from hurling unruly children overboard
- Keep a camera handy at all times...you never know what will happen
next
- Come for the stowaway the night before the cruise
- Fly in at least 1 day before stowaway if you are coming from the West
Coast (I had 3 cancelled flights!)
- Have $20 cash or traveler's check for the depart tax at airport when
leaving
- Sleep out on deck at least once...you'll like it more than you think
- Laugh every chance you get...there will be opportunities galore
DON'T:
- Bring children or minors on the Poly...they will see too much, and
the adults will still resent having to be on good behavior
- Expect to be coddled by the crew or live in luxury
- Go on a Windjammer with the intent to hook up with somebody if you are
single (I saw some disappointed people my second week)
- Take an early morning flight out Saturday
- Go on the Poly if you can't climb a lot of stairs for medical reasons
- Bring your blow-dryer and hairspray...you're hair will be a mess in no
time anyway
- Forget that you are thousands of miles away from reality...let your
hair down as soon as possible
